People ask me, “Why did you get into wine?” I don’t know to be honest. Of course, like so many others, I love drinking it. I love learning about it. I love sharing it and toasting with it. It is a wonderful part of my life. That explains why it is a passion, but why make it a career?
Through this website, I hope to explore the answer to this question with you. It is a journey first and foremost. It is a journey through my senses. It is a journey through all the beautiful wine regions of the world. But it is also a journey through other people’s eyes and palates and experiences. Through the history and culture of ancient civilizations, beginning in Georgia and the Near East, progressing through the Mediterranean and today spreading throughout the temperate zones of the entire world.
It satisfies my wanderlust and restlessness. And hopefully, as you join me on this journey of exploration, through vast vineyards and down various rabbit holes that ultimately result in the simple pleasures of a glass of wine, I can explain why it is a lifelong area of study for me.
